Fly Fishing Art: Bob White

April 10, 2009

-It’s time once again for another featured Fly Fishing artist on Up’North. As anyone who knows me has figured out by now, I’m a sucker for great art. When the art just happens to be a piece on Fly Fishing, It’s difficult to tear me away. Each time I make a post like this on an artist, you can be completely confident that I’ve studied their work and scoured their websites taking in all the different pieces and figuring out what makes them special and unique.

Waiting Deeply: Artist Bob White

For the past hour I’ve immersed myself in the wonderful work done by Minnesota artist Bob White. Almost instantly White’s unique style struck me as something with a very classic, clean feeling. The Biography on his website says he was inspired by the sporting magazines he used to read as a youth, and I can certainly see the influence in his work. White’s paintings are full of soft lines and visible brush strokes that I feel add very much to the classic feel of his portraits. If your looking for busy and technical portraits Bob White is not your artist. But if you enjoy looking at the simplicity that fly fishing and nature have to offer, few artists capture this as well as Bob White.

Happy Castings,
