Trout, Guns, and Life's Lessons

August 20, 2009

– It’s August 20, and the Trout and Salmon in Northern Maine have no idea that in just a few days, something wicked comes their way…

This Friday is my final day at Bushmaster Firearms, and while the excitement of my upcoming, fly fishing filled week has me jumping for joy, I cannot soon discount the wonderful summer that has quickly slipped by. For the past three months my aunt and uncle have taken me in and made it their mission to see to it that I was extremely comfortable. I cannot say enough how much I appreciate the generosity and love that I have seen this summer. My time in southern Maine and at Bushmaster has been amazing, and for this I owe them much more than I will ever be able to repay.

I am also grateful for all of those I have had the pleasure of working with this summer. Some of life’s most valuable lessons are often taught by complete strangers, and the same holds true for my summer experience. But while many of my coworkers started out as strangers, I feel like I leave them having gained many exceptional friends. I would like to thank Bushmaster Firearms and all of it’s employees for making my summer both educational and enjoyable. I walked in on my first day nervous and unsure, but I leave the company on my final day with a new respect for the products and the fine people who have dedicated their lives to making Bushmaster Firearms so successful.

So now I sit and gather one final breath before setting off for my final day. It’s no secret that my heart belongs on the rivers and ponds of the North Maine Woods, and I can’t wait to kick back and enjoy some free time casting a fly. Until then, things on Up’North will slow down for a few days while I move back upta’ home and get situated. But rest assured, with all kinds of fishing on the menu, posts next week will more than make up for my temporary leave of absence.

Next Stop, Fort Kent Maine!
