Mornin’ Coffee: Theriault Flies

September 28, 2009

Good Mornin’ !

On this rainy Monday morning I’d like to give a great big Up’North shout out to the fine people at Theriault Flies in Stacyville, Maine. For years I have driven past their fly shop with not a second of time to spare, and until recently I had absolutely no idea what I was missing. Well, let it be known that I am no longer in the dark!

Less the $50 anyone??!

Less the $50 anyone??!

Upon entering Mr. Alvin Theriault’s fly shop, I was immediately filled with an excitement I could not even begin to explain. From wall to wall, his shop is filled with literally everything any fly tyer could ever possibly want. Countless natural and synthetic materials, furs, hackles, feathers, racks of tools, vices, threads, the list goes on and on! Mr. Theriault has been raising fly tying materials on his farm for over 20 years, and the quality is by far the best I have seen in any shop, period. He even raises his own Jungle Cock and the eyes and nails are simply beautiful and rich in color.

Large Jungle Cock Eyes: $3.50 for 10!

8x Streamer Hooks: 50 for $9.95!

But what makes Theriault’s fly shop really stand out above other shops are his prices. By cutting out the middle man, Mr. Theriault is able to sell high quality materials at rock bottom prices, and I mean ROCK BOTTOM. I can say with confidence that I will never purchase materials anywhere else for as long as his fly shop is open. It is easy to see why fly tyers across the world choose Theriault flies for all their material needs.

Tight Lines,
