A Rare Glimpse…

October 16, 2009

– While I’m still playing catch-up, I thought it only fair that I throw a few more sneak peaks your way. I’m working on the full recap and hope to post it tonight. Whether that will happen or not is another story..

These are before/after shots of my moose. The first shot was taken during dad’s scouting trip the Friday before the hunt in the exact area we would eventually confine ourselves to for 3 days. He and his friend stalked within 30 yards of him in the pouring rain (this picture was taken from the truck before) and he simply would not be bothered. I had my doubts when first looking at the photos but dad said he knew right away that it was the same moose because of his tall rack. On Friday this was just another picture of a big bull, now it’s a keepsake I’ll cherish forever, and a rare glimpse at a magnificent animal that most hunters would never get the opportunity to see. I can’t say enough about fine job dad did as my guide, and these pictures prove he did his homework. Enjoy!

My Bull, 5 days before the hunt.

Giving credit where credit is due. My guide and the moose he closed the gap on before I could pull the trigger.

Happy Hunting!

Your Moose are much darker than the Elk we get here on the island Ben. Ours are probably a shade darker than the horns on this one. I have two pelts salting up in the barn at the mo, courteous of some hunters last week. I’m such a tight arse with my tying materials. Anyway thanks for sharing, have a top weekend mate.
