The Winter Thaw

February 20, 2010

Unusually warm temperatures around the state have given many the false impression that Spring has indeed arrived. While seasoned Mainers know the worst of winter is probably still to come, it is difficult to discount all the premature signs of Spring. Rivers and streams have all but let go of their ice, and with no signs of cooler temperatures in the near future, lakes around the state could become increasingly dangerous as this warm weather wears on. Please use caution, no one finds a early grave on my account.

Tight Lines,

-Ben

Wish I could say the same here Ben,its -22’c outside and a major blizzard is unfolding. expecting around 50cm snow in the next few days. The flip side though is the sea has only frozen in places to around 10cm so goo news for springtime. roll on winter.
