Can-Am Crown 2010

March 4, 2010

– Every year in early March my little town of Fort Kent, Maine comes alive with the sounds barking dogs, determined mushers, and a street full of excited spectators, young and old. The Can-Am crown sled dog races are among some of the most challenging and popular races in the country, with the 250 mile race even rivaling the Iditarod in the eyes of many. Twisting and turning through the vast forests, river valleys, and mountainous terrain of the north Maine woods, don’t let the beautiful backdrop fool you, the Can-Am 250 takes no prisoners. With teams from across the country vying for top prize, the competition is steep, and the experience is unforgettable.

So grab the kids, round up your buddies, or bring your imaginary friend and come on down to Main street Fort Kent this coming Saturday, the 6th of March. Mingle with the community, meet new friendly faces, and toss back a cup of coffee or hot coco. The racing starts promptly at 8am, so don’t be late! I’ll be there, camera in hand. Say hello and you just might receive an Up’North goody compliments yours truly!

See you there!

-Ben
